Andau is perfect for various excursions – whether to historical landmarks, cultural highlights or our Hungarian neighbours.

The Andreasberg lies one kilometer north-west of Andau – the only hill in the area, with its viewing platform it offers a fantastic view all the way to Austria’s neighbours.

The Bridge at Andau, world-famous due to historical events occurring in 1956, was re-erected in 2006 and can be visited all year round.

Trips to neighbouring villages in Hungary, like Jánossomorja (St. Johann) and Albert-Kázmér-Puszta (Kasimir) as well as to Fertöd, where the Esterházy family had their summer palace complete the range of offers.

Lovers of water sports will find optimal conditions for wind-surfing, sailing and kite-surfing on Lake Neusiedl, the largest steppe lake in Europe.

The Basilica of Frauenkirchen and its adjoining Franciscan cloister are the most beautiful baroque church buildings and the most significant pilgrimage site in Burgenland.

The baroque Halbturn Palace once served as the hunting and summer residence of the emperors. It offers continually changing art and cultural exhibitions, far-ranging gardens and a comprehensive wine cellar.

Visitors can experience the way life was in Burgenland in bygone days at the Mönchhof Village Museum. Here, old houses, workshops, appliances and equipment have been lovingly restored and presented as a Burgenland village.

Opera and operetta fans can indulge themselves at the Opera Festival in the Roman Quarry of St Margarethen and the Operetta Festival in Mörbisch.

A day at the St. Martins Therme and Lodge, opened in 2009, is a great choice when the weather is bad. The Seewinkel area is a 15min car drive away from Andau.

Shopping opportunities for the whole family and bargains all year round can be found at the McArthurGlen Designer Outlet Center in Parndorf.

Both big and small explorers will have fun playing and enjoy the thrills on offer at the Familypark St. Margarethen, Austria’s largest theme and leisure park.
